General Enrollment Questions
What age can my child start dance classes?
We welcome dancers starting at age 3 in our Combo Classes — a fun introduction to ballet, tap, and movement designed just for little ones who are potty trained! Older students can join at any level based on experience. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced, we’ll help find the right class fit.
Do you offer trial classes?
Yes! We offer an entire week of free trial classes or placement evaluations to help new students find the perfect style and level. Just contact our front desk or email us to schedule a time.
How are students placed by level?
Placement is based on age, experience, and technical readiness.
Our instructors evaluate each dancer individually to ensure they are challenged but never overwhelmed — allowing for safe, steady growth.
What’s included in tuition?
Tuition covers professional instruction, classroom time, and access to studio resources.
Families can also take advantage of makeup classes. A one-time $40 registration fee (siblings $25) applies at enrollment. Participation in the end of year recital does have other fees associated which can be found in our Studio Handbook!

What sets IDC apart?
IDC was founded on the importance of goal setting, positive self-talk and an overall educational approach to teaching dance. Our instructors go above and beyond to create lessons, stations and take-home activities to keep the students engaged, focused and dedicated to reaching their goals. We are much more than a place to learn some choreography and make new friends (although, we are that too!)

Logistics & Studio Policies
Can parents watch classes?
Parents are welcome to observe through studio windows or cameras, but we encourage dancers to build independence by participating without a parent present.
This helps keep the classroom calm, focused, and free from distractions.
What happens if we miss a class?
If your dancer misses class due to illness, travel, or other conflicts, they may attend a make-up class before February.
After that, attendance becomes crucial as we prepare for recital choreography.
How do I pay tuition or update billing information?
Tuition runs on the 1st of each month through our secure Parent Portal.
You can log in anytime to update payment info, view balances, or register for new classes.
Payments not received by the 10th of the month incur a $15 late fee.
What is the dress code?
Proper attire helps dancers move safely and allows teachers to correct alignment.
Here’s a quick overview:
-
Ballet: Black leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes (hair in bun)
-
Jazz / Lyrical: Fitted leotard or tank, leggings/shorts, tan jazz shoes
-
Tap: Comfortable dancewear, tan or black tap shoes
-
Hip Hop: Streetwear + black high-top Converse (studio-only shoes)
-
Pom: Form-fitting attire, tan jazz shoes, IDC poms (sold in studio)
-
Acro: Leotard or crop top + fitted shorts, barefoot
-
Combo: Pink ballet shoes, tan tap shoes (no laces)
Hair should always be secured back neatly for safety.
Do you sell dancewear or shoes?
Yes — our office can fit dancers for shoes and order recital-approved brands and colors.
You’re also welcome to purchase dancewear elsewhere as long as it meets IDC’s dress code.
Recital & Performances
When is the recital?
This year our annual recital takes place the weekend of May 29–30, 2026 at North Port High School.
It’s a celebration of the entire season’s growth and creativity!
Are costumes required for recital?
Yes. Each class performs one routine, and combo classes perform two using a 2-in-1 costume.
Costumes range from $75–$125, with a $40 deposit due in November and the balance due in February.
How much are recital tickets?
Tickets typically range from $25–$50 per person, depending on seating.
We’ll share all details in spring as we approach recital!
Are recital photos required?
Photo participation isn’t required, but we encourage all dancers to join for group pictures — they’re part of the IDC family keepsake!
Photo week takes place during regular class times each spring.
